First time author, Meg Sangster, was just married when she and her husband Cole, came to Perth from Newcastle NSW in 1948. Fate led them to the Wentworth Hotel and a meeting with Mary and Joe Raine that determined the future course of their lives.

Long careers in the hospitality and fashion industries left no time for literary pursuits but Meg was convinced that Mary Raine's remarkable story should not be lost to future generations, but should be recorded as part of the colourful history of Western Australia.
