Raine Scholarship Historical Overview
Since 1991 the Raine Foundation has provided in excess of $200,000 in the form of Scholarships to support medical students who went on to successfully complete the Bachelor of Medical Science degree with honours.
In 1999, however, as part of a major review of the medical curriculum, the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry introduced a combined course for the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and Doctor of Philosophy. As the new MBBS/PhD Degree was to become the major focus for students pursuing a research pathway, the Raine Foundation agreed to redirect its support to the new MBBS/PhD degree. Two Scholarships of $20,000 each shall be offered each year on a matching-funds basis with the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.
